Threat of the Conqueror, a SWG trading card game expansion, was released in March by SOE. This brings a 10-scenario story arc surrounding the Conqueror, the Empire’s new Star Destroyer that has the capability of destroying the entire planets. This new SWG expansion includes:

A New Threat: The Imperials develop a devastating new weapon outfitted on a single Star Destroyer, the Conqueror

Special Forces: Both sides of the Galactic Civil War have elite, highly trained military teams that perform specialized operations such as rescue, reconnaissance, counter-insurgency, and sabotage.

New Gameplay: “Intel” increases your tactical options in battle with additional bonus powers. “Reinforcement” reduces the cost of cards later in the game, letting you launch deadlier attacks

Epic Quest Story Arc: The 10-scenario story arc is split into light and dark side campaigns. Join the Imperial Storm Commandos or the Alliance Renegade Squadron

New Playable Avatars: Bith- a peaceful species that are technologically advanced and are known for the musical talents. Duros– have knowledge of trade and hyperspace routes.

Unique “Threat of the Conqueror” Loot: More than 20 new special forces-themed loot cards

SOE has announced that this year’s Star Wars Galaxies Fan Faire will be help in Las Vegas on August 5-8, 2010. This annual event allows players to meet and interact with the developers of SOE games. Some other games that are featured are EverQuest, Legends of Norrath, PlanetSide, and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.

Activities featured at the event include:

• Special announcements and sneak peaks up upcoming SOE titles


• In-game tournaments and live game themed competitions, and quests
• Developer forums and roundtables
• Cool giveaways and other fun items

This SWG event allows also allows players from all over the world to come together and share their love of the game and get to know some of the faces behind their favorite game. They also get a firsthand look at what future plans SOE has for the games.

Are you unable to attend this year’s event? Maybe you don’t have the money to go or live halfway around the world. Well, there are other opportunities to come together and interact with other SWG fans that wouldn’t cost you anything and can be done from the comfort of your own home. A couple weeks ago SOE (Sony Online Entertainment) featured a bonus weekend event. Between February 25 and March 2 players received bonus exp and more. The SWG bonuses included

• Double XP


• Double GCW Points
• Double GCW Tokens from Battlefields and City Invasions
• Double Chronicles XP
• Double Chronicles Silver Tokens and an increased chance to earn Gold Chronicles Tokens

If you’re anything like me you probably didn’t hear about the bonus weekend event until it was too late or just didn’t have the time to log on and play during those days. Well luckily with other resources available we don’t have to rely on SOE for such events or be on their schedule. There are several different ways to do things such as multiply your SWG gold, XP, points, tokens and whatever else you wish to do.

Star Wars Galaxies cheats will allow you to achieve unbelievable and incredible results not possible with just regular gameplay. A form of cheat is also a SWG exploit that will allow you to advance your character abnormally fast by using game bugs to your advantage.

Some may see it as unfair gameplay and others may see it as the only means of succeeding in a demanding world that doesn’t always allow the time to play the game or participate in SOE created events.

The SOE community team hosted a challenge called Mr & Ms Galaxy. Participants submitted their best Star Wars Galaxies character screenshot for a chance at the title. The screenshot had to include a full-body image of the character, a scenic view was optional.

After all the submissions had been made, ten finalists were selected. It was then up to the SWG community to vote for the winner. Winners and runners-up would be highlighted on the SOE web network and in addition were rewarded with these prizes

Star Wars Galaxies Items can range anywhere from crafted to quest items, or even junk. Some are essential to leveling and to build stronger characters, others are simply for status or décor purposes.

Star Wars Galaxies bots are oftentimes used by gamers to collect the largest amount of items possible. A bot is a program with humanlike actions that is designed to automatically do specific tasks. So even when your AFK your bot can craft or collect items in your absence.

SWG secrets are also available to simplify the item collecting process. Secrets are not easily revealed and can give you an advantage over most players.

For example, here is a secret on how to get one of the best (lesser known) décor SWG items:

Requirements

• Profession: Bounty Hunter
• Profession Quest: Bounty Contract

Instructions

1. Start the quest. Bobba Fett contacts you to go see Bosshand Faeto in the Lucky Despot 3400-4590. Get the Untas’ Death Mark. (Put in equipped pack or bank and you can stop quest and re-do if you want more).

   This looks like a little tomb stone. The Aurebesh inscription reads “Rest in peace. In Loving Memory”



2. 
   Next visit an NOC named Taibela 3490 -4872. She gives you a “Pressed Flower.” (stop here, run to bank to put item in bank, stop quest and repeat).


3. Visit Kryat Cult Cave once you have enough flowers etc. 3530 -3825 The NPC named Oldksam gives you Dar’Kel Spice. You can continue and finish quest or just stop once you get the decor items.

A small, helpful SWG tip can end up saving you many minutes if not hours of time and frustration. A tip is usually a small piece of information designed to simplify a task. SWG hints and tips can provide valuable guidance and information for not only beginners but also the most advanced players.

I am going to share some simple, time saving Star Wars Galaxies tips. Unfortunately the developers haven’t made them that available for gamers. You may already be familiar with some of them, but for the gamers that are not, they can be incredibly handy.

FINDING BUILDINGS
use /locate to get a list with coordinates to all the structures you own.

TARGETING
RADAR FOR TARGETTING: if you move the cursor onto a dot in the radar circle it tells you what that dot is and its waypoints. Even more cool if you click on the dot it makes that your target. So you can simply click on a dot and you’re in business.

TRAVELLING
AUTO-DRIVE: clicking the “Num Lock” key sets you to an auto-drive of sorts. You can still move the mouse to change direction. (or if you don’t use mouse point mode, can steer with turning keys as per usual)

Star Wars Galaxies is featuring a series “Meet the Senators” where each week you are introduced to the people who serve on the Galactic Senate. They discuss their role as senator, what it’s like working with other senates, what they enjoy about the game, and other interesting information. They also discuss real life information such as what they do for a living or their favorite hubbies to give you an opportunity to really get to know them.

Some may say galaxies far, far away is not what it used to be. Star Wars Galaxies was released in 2003 and the game received mostly positive reviews, however, starting in 2005 some updates were made that were met with mixed reviews by gamers. While some supported the updates, many criticized Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) for making some of these changes and signups began dropping dramatically. Two major updates were:

Combat Upgrade (CU) fixed exploits that previously allowed some professions to abuse defensive abilities and also some which allowed characters to attack while afk (away from keyboard). With this fix, combat turned into more of a talent for those players who were skilled with SWG macro scripting code instead of those who were skilled at technical combat.

After the combat update:

New Game Enhancements (NGE) was an update where professions were reduced and many aspects of the game were overly simplified. Jedi also became a starting profession. SOE was criticized for taking the depth and complexity out of the game with this update.

After the NGE update

SWG is also notorious for being extremely buggy which makes it easy to exploit. A SWG exploit is a game glitch or bug that can be used to player’s advantages to do incredible things that are not possible with regular game play. Although these bugs can take away from gameplay and quality of the game, like many other players, I have found that by taking advantage of the Star Wars Galaxies exploits we can bring back some of the fun and excitement of the old SWG that we loved.
