You can start your SWG adventure by downloading the game and opening an account. You’ll than be asked to create your very own Star Wars Galaxies character. You first decide which galaxy you want to play in and then you have to choose a species and profession that will suit you best.

To try to recruit more players and to try and convince former gamers to rejoin the game, SOE let certain gamers play for free between February and March of this year. This offer was only made available to SWG accounts that were active between January 1, 2007 and November 30, 2009. It was not available to accounts closed prior to and after that time period.
This offer to play for free was not available to Star Wars Galaxies accounts that were still active, got banned, or the accounts that were not in good standing when their former subscription expired or got terminated.
Former members that met these requirements and reactivated their SWG accounts and billing received:
- The Rebel Charge of Glory Class Dark Trooper in-game house painting
- The customizable Factional House Painting loyalty reward
